Sleepless Nights

The best way to sleep at night
Is to be pious, or obtuse.

Since I am neither,
I do not sleep at night.

From time to time,
I convince myself I am one or the other.

These are the wonderful nights
That I sleep like a mummy.

Inevitably, though, my rest is interrupted
And I am put on display for the whole world to see.

  1. Love it. I rarely sleep well, and now I know why. Very good.

Thanks. Hopefully one day we’ll both get a good night of sleep.

  2. I love this poem especially the last line. I feel that way when I do not get enough sleep – just hopelessly unable to function.

Thank you. I know the feeling of being hopelessly unable to function all to well….

As an insomniac myself, I can relate. Well done!

  4. it’s 3 a.m. and I am still up.
    That just about explains it.
I forgot how to “go to” sleep.

Me too. Fortunately for me, it’s only midnight here.
