The Future

Just out of reach
It drives us
Like a greyhound
Chasing a stuffed hare
We run life’s race
But never catch it

I’ve caught it a bunch of times. It’s no big deal.

True. But each time you caught it, weren’t you in the present?

What happens when that ‘now’ feeling dissipate – we’re seeking that future again. Simple. Nicely done.

Thank you for the comment. I like to ponder time, which made this a fun poem to write. It is the third poem of three that I wrote at the same time. “The Past” and “The Present” are the other two poems.
