Awareness

Being aware
Is understanding
All that is around you.

Being miraculously aware
Is understanding
All that is within you.

Being enlightened
Is understanding
Each must be in balance.

It makes me happy that you liked this poem. When I wrote it, I was reading a book about Zen and also learning about meditation techniques. I liked what I was learning so much that I wanted to write a poem about it. Of course, I wanted to add my own twist to it. Everything that I was learning about had to do with understanding your inner self. While understanding your inner self is important, I felt that the outer world could not be ignored. That idea created this poem and the idea of balancing the two as a means of enlightenment. Thanks again for your comment.

The Yoda in me wants to say “Do. Or do not. There is no try.” Of course, in reality I know exactly what you are saying. I try to do this everyday too! Thank you so much for your comment.
